As my time in the Diocesan Leaders Academy comes to a close, I reflect with a profound sense of gratitude for the opportunity to participate in such a transformative and enriching program. My experience in the DLA has been both intellectually formative and spiritually renewing, and I consider it a tremendous blessing to have journeyed alongside so many faithful and dedicated leaders in Catholic education from across the country.

Throughout the program, I was continually inspired by the depth and richness of the Steve Cunninghamcontent centered on Catholic Liberal Education and by the DLA’s unwavering mission to immerse participants in both the theory and practice of the Church’s intellectual tradition. Each presentation and discussion invited us not only to think more deeply about the renewal of Catholic education, but also to rediscover the beauty, truth, and goodness at the heart of our educational mission. The Academy consistently challenged us to see Catholic schools not merely as institutions of academic excellence, but as places of authentic human formation and evangelization rooted in Christ.

The quality of the presentations, conversations, and keynote addresses was exceptional. We were privileged to hear from leaders and scholars who are deeply engaged in the ongoing renewal of Catholic education and who offered practical insights, visionary leadership, and faithful witness. The virtual sessions were thoughtfully balanced with meaningful in-person experiences, including our time at the Augustine Institute and visits to showcase Catholic schools where we witnessed vibrant examples of mission-driven leadership and faithful educational practice in action. These opportunities provided not only inspiration, but also tangible models for the future of Catholic schools within our own dioceses and communities.

Perhaps the greatest gift of the Diocesan Leadership Academy has been the relationships formed throughout this journey. One of the most significant takeaways from my experience is the strong network of professional and personal relationships developed with colleagues who share a common mission of serving the Church through diocesan leadership. It was deeply encouraging to collaborate with men and women who are passionate about renewing Catholic education and who approach their work with both conviction and joy. These relationships have become a source of support, encouragement, and shared wisdom that I know will continue to bear fruit for years to come.

In addition to the tremendous leadership formation I received, I am especially grateful for the accompaniment and witness of the gifted ICLE team, whose dedication, hospitality, and fidelity to the mission of Catholic education were evident throughout every aspect of the program. The DLA truly fosters a spirit of discipleship, collegiality, and joyful service that made this experience not only informative and professionally enriching, but also personally meaningful and spiritually life-giving.

As I conclude my time in the Diocesan Leadership Academy, I feel more deeply formed in both mind and heart to listen attentively to the Holy Spirit and to seek the Lord’s will for the renewal of His schools. The program has strengthened my conviction that Catholic education plays an essential role in the mission of the Church and has renewed my hope for the future of our Catholic schools. Above all, I leave this experience with a deeper joy in serving as a witness to the Gospel in my role as a diocesan leader and with renewed confidence that God continues to call and equip faithful leaders for the work ahead.

Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom, pray for us.
