St. Michael Academy (SMA), a Catholic Classical Academy in Petoskey, Michigan is looking for a brilliant, energetic, and faith-filled educator to teach multiple courses in our mathematics curriculum, including Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. The position would commence August 15, 2020.
In September 2019, St. Michael Academy joined the Chesterton Academy Network of Catholic Classical Schools. As such, we have adopted their outstanding curriculum, including math and science modules. These materials form the basis of the courses the applicant will be asked to teach beginning in the fall of 2020.
Currently, our more pressing instructional needs lie in the mathematics arena, so while we are indeed looking for a multi-functional math and science teacher, applicants with a decided mathematics background would be most helpful. The ability to teach Biology would also be a plus.
The ideal candidate will possess both teaching experience and a commitment to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. As a growing classical high school that employs both the Trivium and the Quadrivium, we are interested in attracting candidates with a passion for integrated learning that produces “Smart Saints” – who can spread the Gospel and pursue their educational and evangelical vocations with zeal and aplomb.
Founded in 2013, St. Michael Academy is the first Catholic high school in the Little Traverse area since 1972, and Northern Michigan’s only high school offering a Classical Curriculum. SMA strives to develop the next generation of American leaders by promoting a culture of excellence and instilling in our students the classical virtues of wisdom, temperance, courage, and justice, and the Christian virtues of faith, hope, and love.
