NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
The school Headmaster serves as the educational leader, responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe traditional Catholic learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school.
Achieving academic excellence requires that the school Headmaster work collaboratively to direct and nurture all members of the school staff hired by the Board and to communicate effectively with parents. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for scheduling, curriculum development, extracurricular activities, personnel management, local/parish outreach, fundraising, student enrollment, parental involvement, emergency procedures, and facility operations.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee Daily Operations of the School
Manage, evaluate and supervise procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the mission, values and goals of the school including instructional programs, extracurricular activities, discipline, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations including budget management, and emergency procedures. Ensure compliance with all laws, board policies and civil regulations.
Establish a professional rapport with the community. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel.
Conduct meetings, as necessary, for the proper functioning of the school: faculty, administration, fundraising, etc. Manage conflict when it requires the attention of the headmaster.
Establish procedures that create and maintain attractive, organized, functional, clean, and safe facilities.
Communicate regularly with parents, donors and the local parishes/community, teaching them about the mission of DMA and seeking their support and advice, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the students and the school.
Complete in a timely fashion all records and reports as requested by the Board. Maintain accurate attendance records for students and teachers. Maintain updated handbooks.
Communicate with the Board regularly about the needs, successes and general operation of the school.
Establish procedures for safe storing and integrity of all public and confidential school records. Ensure that student and teacher files/records are complete, current and confidential.
Plan Strategic Initiatives of the School
Lead the school’s fundraising efforts.
Lead and manage the recruitment of new students. This will include opening new grades in our high school as the school continues to grow and expand.
Research and collect data regarding the needs of students, and other pertinent information. Keep the staff informed and seek ideas for the improvement of the school.
Develop academic program and character formation grounded in the Catholic Faith
Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for formation of character in virtue and academic performance.
Establish the annual master schedule for instructional programs, ensuring sequential learning experiences for students consistent with the school’s mission, vision and instructional goals.
Supervise the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.
Guide and instruct the teachers to provide the spiritual atmosphere inherent in a traditional Catholic educational environment. Ensure the schedule allows for regular Mass and Confessions.
Nurture both students and teachers to achieve their greatest potential academically, instructionally and spiritually.
Maintain in the school a spirit conducive to prayer and study.

A deep love of the Catholic faith and a full sacramental and prayer life
Teaching and leadership experience in a school environment
Proven ability to teach, manage, lead teams and develop individuals
Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills
Strong track record of fiscal responsibility and ability to fundraise effectively
Understanding and appreciation of Classical education
