Saint Mary’s Catholic High School, Arizona’s oldest Catholic school, is seeking a humanities teacher to begin teaching in August 2019. The preferred candidate is able to teach both literature and history as part of our Seat of Wisdom program and possesses either an undergraduate or a
graduate degree in relevant subject matter. Candidates should have a passion for Catholic liberal education and the formation of young men in women.

Under the supervision of the principal, the humanities teacher:
• Strives to achieve the goals of Catholic education
• Has the knowledge, skills, and ability to teach literature and history to high school students
• Assumes responsibility for the leadership and management of the grades or classes assigned
• Develops and implements an instructional program according to the needs of the students and
the established Diocesan Curriculum Standards
• Maintains detailed and accurate records as required by the school
• Establishes positive school-community relationships
• Continues professional development to remain current with religious and academic certifications
• Performs any other job-related tasks deemed necessary and/or assigned by the principal


Minimum Qualifications:
• Preference given to a Catholic teacher
• Must meet Ministry Formation Certification and/or work towards certification or re-certification as
required by Diocesan policy
• Must be willing to make a public Profession of Faith if Catholic; and if non-Catholic, must be
willing to support Catholic teachings and philosophy
• Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree
• Must be certifiable or willing to work for certification by the Arizona State Department of Education as a teacher
• Received Safe Environment Training
• Must sign the diocesan Code of Conduct
• FBI Fingerprint clearance completed
