Great news!
The Our Sunday Visitor Institute has awarded the Institute a grant
of $17,000 to help with our summer Academic Retreat for Teachers
in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. The Retreat will be hosted again by the University
of St. Francis, and co-led by Dr. David Fleischacker, chairman of
the Theology/Philosophy Department. Details and early registration
will be available next month.
We are very grateful to OSV for their support!
Upcoming Events:
Institute President Michael Van Hecke and I will visit the Regina
Coeli and Regina Angelorum Academies in Philadelphia later this month. Our
two-day stay will include classroom observation, review with administrators,
faculty workshops, and an evening talk to board, parents, and friends
on classical education. (Read the press
release for more information).
In April, the Institute will present a workshop on the relationship
between religion and social studies for the Diocese of Pittsburgh. I
am excited about this opportunity to work with the diocesan teachers
on an important area of curricular crossover in Catholic schools.
January News:
Catholic
Classical Education Recognized in Catholic High School Honor Roll

that use classical curricula were named among the top 50 schools, and
two of the three Honorable Mention designations also went to schools
using classical curricula.
The Institute for Catholic Liberal Education takes great joy in congratulating:

Recent
Online Lectures from the Intercollegiate Studies Institute
The Intercollegiate Studies Institute website offers some excellent
lectures on-line in audio and video.
We particularly recommend the debate between famous Christian apologist
Dinesh D’Souza and atheist author Christopher Hitchens. This
is part of ISI’s Cicero’s Podium Great Debate Series, and is entitled
“Is Christianity the Problem?” Visit "Is
Christianity the Problem?" to
watch or listen to the debate.
We also recommend Dr. Anthony Esolen’s lecture, “Is Culture a Thing
of the Past?” Visit http://www.isi.org/lectures/lectures.aspx to
listen.
